Effect of reinforced concrete slab on the flexural behavior of composite beam to column joints: Parameter study and evaluation formulae

This paper presents a comprehensive numerical and theoretical investigation into the flexural capacities of composite joints with reinforced concrete (RC) slab. The improved 3D (three-dimensional) models were established by MSC. Marc (2012) calibrated experimental observations presented in companion (Mou et al., 2019a [1]). Supplementary parametric studies then undertaken to examine effect slab, size (H), axial-force ratio (n), slab thickness (hs), compressive strength (fc’), width-to-thickness column (D/t) on joints. Employing yield line mechanism theory, calculation method incorporating RC for joint was proposed. proposed formulae featured favorable accuracy suggested be applied design steel structural systems.
